BACK IN THE DAY, uh, when I used to frequent rp forums there was always a chatbox? Idk if that is something you'd consider doing? I mostly bring this up bc PERSONALLY I find it kinda awkward to rp with people I don't know very well, like the only person I've rped with on here is Tamara who I was already acquainted with prior to joining SOOOO
Like, I'm not saying it has to be like a chatbox EXACTLY but just something to make it somewhat easier to quickly communicate with other ppl on the forum? bc idk about OTHER PEOPLE but every time I make a post or start a new thread I'm like "holy shit i hope this is ok and doesn't sound like garbage?" WHICH JUST MIGHT BE ME BUT
It's also like hmmm I c these ppl are ALSO online, but what are they doing w/ their time are they waiting for responses to things bc I know same in that regard.
Idk, it's just AN IDEA feel free to be like NO or w/e

0.0 I feel the same exact way. A chatbox sounds like a good idea, though I've never done anything like that before. But it sounds like a good way for everyone to chat-it-up and stuff.

My one concern -- and I only bring it up out of personal experience, idk how common it is -- would be that a chat box might be too... distracting? I'm not sure how to phrase it, but I'd be worried about everyone using the chatbox to discuss how things in threads ought to go, and not actually take the time to play it out within a real thread, if that makes sense. Otherwise I'm not opposed.

yeah, that definitely is a valid concern! maybe a rule for the chatbox can be no discussing rping? or like the plot?

so more of a 'general' chat? I get where you're coming from with wanting to get a feel for people before running gung-ho into an RP with them (which always makes you feel 2000% MORE INSECURE about your writing)

yeah i think that sounds good !!! i think it would be cute to have a lil chatter box :3 i don't think you'd need to have NO DISCUSSION OF RP AT ALL thing as that is sort of a universally connecting factor here, but perhaps a rule like - if its not a thread on the forums, its not a counted IC interaction. so you couldnt chat up about your characters on the chat and then be like OH THEY ARE THE BEST OF BUDDIES NOW w/o ever having threaded, if that makes sense ! :3

Totally makes sense. I can't really figure out if I'm just that old, but is Mibbit/darkmyst chats still an option? I always found it's a nice way for a big group of people to chat all at once, and if a plot idea comes up, if people are online they can pm quickly without waiting for a notification from the board.

basically ^^^ I wouldn't cut off ALL talk about RP, because- well, we're kind of on an RP site we're in this hell 2gether alright
Just maybe steer away from any talk about how an RP should progress (+ if it needs to be done, then a quick PM should suffice)
