A noble? She'll definitely be swiping some of his share when this is all over. "I'm sure you'll think of something," Riona reassures the man.
Speaking of swiping, Riona delicately returns the flask of lyrium to the mage's pack, no worse for the wear. Then, emphatically dusting off her hands together, Riona stands from the table and takes a good look at the men she's going to be travelling with. There could be worse companions -- Void knows she's had some -- and they seem like they should work well enough together to get this ambush done successfully. "Delightful, aren't we? Well, I'm prepared to head off."
She's got her travel gear stashed in a little bolthole not far from the edge of the forest, easy to swing by before heading off, and enough of her own rations to last another week or so; plus the woods are full enough of decent game, and clearly no lord to climb all over them for poaching. Still, she looks to Benjin for definite confirmation -- her habit of taking over is one she genuinely tries to keep in check for the most part, and he's the guy who picked up the job first.

A noble. Benjin doesn't wrinkle his nose, at least not on purpose but decides that 'Dev' is a better nickname than 'Orlesian', if only for the sake of it being shorter. It was a curious thing, a lordship deigning to dig around doing Chantry Board work, but he supposed beggars couldn't be choosers and they had enough of a ragtag crew that they could set off. Scratching just a little at his cheek, he takes Riona's lead in standing and nods - curt and straight to the point, and he wouldn't ask for it any other way.
"I've still to collect a few supplies, but I can't imagine this little hunt will take much longer than a week at most, so I'd travel light. We can meet on the edge of town in and hour or so to head off, I reckon? It'll be dusk by then but shouldn't be too much of a worry, what with our secret weapon," He finger guns at Tacivi, itching to get off himself. Quicker it was done quicker they could be back and he could reacquaint himself with a comfortable corner of the bar.

He isn't exactly thrilled to be working with this "Dev", but it's more his attitude than his status. He figures he can just ignore him for the most part and get on with the job. It's not like he'll try to make small talk he chuckles silently to himself at the thought, following suite with the others, putting away his journal, noting that his flask seems to have found its way home. Curious.
Tacivi can only stare blankly at the fingers pointed his way for a few seconds before he starts laughing, well his version of laughter anyways, which consists of his nose blowing out air and his shoulders vibrating a bit. He calms himself, doing his best to look like a professional after his outburst. Inburst?

Kian stepped out from the trees, melting from the shadows like he was made from them himself. He glanced around warily before stealthily walking into the village. He needed more travel supplies and then, coin. He couldn't stay here long, despite the gorgeous view of Calenhad Lake. He followed the well-trodden road, cloak swishing around his legs and bag tucked against his arm. His vivid blue eyes scanned the village as he made his way to the nearby general store. His staff he held in his hand, lovingly caressing the wood and its runes. He turned his gaze from fond to serious, and looked back at the store. He picked some rations and loose fabric off the shelves, before walking over to the herb shelf and picking up some of the rarer herbs that he couldn't find in the forest. He walked over to the store owner, paying for his collection of eclectic goods and walking out of the store.

Fully packed and ready to set off, Riona idles by the edge of the forest with her gear beside her, sword propped up on her pack. With the time to spare, she considers the job ahead. If there's enough to be made, she may be able to buy passage to a larger city; Denerim perhaps, or Amaranthine. Highever was said to still be rebuilding after the Blight, she could lose herself in work there without too much risk of being recognized.
Movement made her look up, assuming it to be one of her new companions on their way. She's already up and waving to indicate where she's waiting for the others by the time she realizes that the man with the staff is, in fact, not the man with the staff she's been expecting.
"Uh --" Well. She drops her arm. Maybe he didn't see her, or he'd ignore her.

Kian halted, blinking in surprise. "Did... you mistake me for someone else, dear lady?" He asked softly, very conscious of the fact his hood was down and the well-armed lady could see his face. "I'm sorry if I startled you, I promise I did not mean to. I merely take respite in the woods you stand before." He shuffled, clutching his maple staff anxiously. He brushed his long hair out of his face, another nervous tick. "I, uh." He stammered. This was incredibly awkward. He was no good at this sort of thing. "I'm, uh, Kian."

Benjin hefts the bag over his shoulder, a hard worked leather backpack that had been hemmed at the seams more times than he'd like to count, and each time with different coloured thread. He mused over what other supplies he might need (he had a water flask, a bed roll, some good dried meat, a loaf of bread, some apples and a few spices for anything they might hunt in the woods), stood outside the general store, when someone brushes by him. The first thing he notes is a staff on their back and a long black braid trailing behind them.
He follows as they trailed back to the edge of town, where Riona is already situated and he beams as he see's her, throwing a large hand up in a wave and striding the last few steps to close the distance. He towers over their new accomplice, and he gets a better look at them; slightly pointed ears and all. He catches the end of the conversation, and without blinking grasps one of their hands in a warm greeting.
"I'm Benjin, friend. And why might you be meeting with the other leader of our fine expedition? Eager to sign up, eh?" Two mages seemed better than one - the Maker seemed to be raining them down by lake Calenhad.

Kian balked at the sight of the taller man, fighting his initial instinct to run. "Er." He stammered out eloquently, before his hand in grabbed and shaken. He blinks in surprise, unused from warm greetings by those he had not healed. Were Fereldans all this friendly? Maybe it's cause they were dog people. He was a cat person, and as he thought this, an irritated meow came from his pack. He flushed brighter, brown skin slightly red now. "I'll assume you just heard my name, do correct me if I misjudge. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." He shifted slightly, unoccupied hand slipping into his pouch to pet his unhappy companion.
He looked up again, looking confused. "E-expedition? I just ran into her. She seemed to assume I was someone else." He paused, remembering he did need coin if he was to continue living comfortably among the trees. It's hard to grow crops without clearing the trees away, which he doesn't wish to do. "I-I could use the coin, but if you're already full up, I'm sure you'd be fine without me. Unless y-you don't have any healing spells. My apologies, I'm stammering." He shut his mouth, ducking his head again.

Did his pack just meow? How peculiar Tacivi muses as he settles himself beside Riona, inspecting the other mage, he seems alright if not a little panicky, but who could blame the guy when he's faced with the bear of a man that is Benjin. He definitely wouldn't mind another mage coming along, especially one with such a different arsenal at his disposal, so he smiles kindly with a cheesy thumbs up, figuring he doesn't really need to write down everything to get his point across.

Riona's eyebrows soar towards her hairline in amusement at the address -- lady? In what corner of the world? -- but otherwise doesn't comment. The poor fellow looks nervous enough without being picked on, and judging by their ears, they've probably been picked on a lot.
"Sorry, I did think you were someone else -- we're taking a wander through the woods for some good old-fashioned bandit-hunting and I was waiting for the rest of the team."
One more person means dividing the take one more way, but a healer certainly sounds like an addition worth the cost, since healing potions could only go so far and despite confident attitude suggesting otherwise, neither of them genuinely know what they'll be facing. She looks up at Benjin consideringly.
"Split the coin five ways, or rely on a handful of little potions. What do ya say?"

We're collecting mages now, it seems. It was a thought Devereaux didn't vocalise- even if his impulse control was poor. Behave. The kid looked nervous, though. He'd almost be reminded of his first time in Val Royeaux, if it wasn't for....the cat?
That was definitely a meow. Alright. Not so different from the lap nug job.
He looked toward Riona, and over to Benjin as she deferred. These two were definitely spearheading the operation. You wouldn't have suspected they'd just met- well, so he'd been told. It might've even been endearing if they weren't all about to go murder for coin in a forest somewhere.

Kian shifted, fiddling with his braid anxiously as the rest of the group came up to them. He gaped at Tacivi as he gave him a thumbs up, very confused. He'd never met a group of adventurers this friendly. He offered Tacivi a hesitant smile, grip on his braid loosening just a tad. "I-I am a pretty good healer. Not that I mean to b-brag or anything! I can help a little in a fight too. I'm just. Not offensive oriented." He gave the group a shaky smile, sizing each of them up. The other man hadn't spoke yet, and Kian wondered if he was a mage too.

"Thats alright, kid. I imagine Riona and I'll take the brunt of the force, and we were planning an ambush anyway! We can fill you in on the road. Healing potions can't patch an arrow run right through you," Neither could they heal up an ice shard thrown through ones middle, but best not to think on it. One could be relatively certain that no one had delivered the news of planning an ambush quite as contentedly as Benjin, but it was how he was. If it came to it, who would be better hunting mages than mages? This sort of thing made a great deal of sense to Benjin, who had never once witnessed a mage fight.
Except for. Well, arguably a few times, as he was rather certain the very large explosion in Kirkwall had had something particular to do with mages, and he rather hoped that anything they would be facing in the woods was a great deal smaller, if possible.
Regardless, he looks over the crew once measuring them up and counting them off on one hand; cocky Orlesin tit, reliable and sensible elf with a large sword, mage with excellent penmanship even if he used a few too many big words, and the newest and most nervous member who looked on the verge of stammering himself silly.
It was a good thing mages were usually ranged aggressors.
He hefts his pack a final time, and gestures to the road.
"Nothing for it but to get trekking. Anyone got any bright ideas for ambushing a mage?"

Hefting her gear over her shoulder with her sword still easily accessible, Riona takes the hint and starts heading through. "From two points," she suggests immediately, "maybe three, if anyone's a mind to come from one side alone. One or two to make the first jump, preferably buffed with some resistance, to get their attention and throw 'em off." She gestures as she speaks, one gloved hand representing the party while the other wiggles its fingers as figurative of frightened mage-bandits. "Then, while they're taking the hits, our sneaks and our ranged fellows blind-side before anyone can say 'what'."
She spreads her hands in front of her with a toothy grin. "Aye? Doesn't even have to be mages for it."

Tacivi follows hot on her heels, tugging lightly on her sleeve. Once he's sure he has her attention he holds three fingers up with his right hand and points at himself with his left. Definitely looking for the opportunity to prove his worth and maybe show off just a little bit. Not that he would admit it to anyone. With his magic he's pretty sure he could handle whatever group they're hunting on his own, if he's being honest, but working with a group is always fun.
